Credit card rewards programs
Credit Card Rewards, Perks, and Incentives

Everyone has a different reason for having a credit card. Some people simply have them for convenience, but rarely actually use them, not even to take advantage of credit card rewards and credit card incentives; others constantly transfer balances from one card to another in order to make the most of 0% or low interest deals, while they are paying off a large balance. Still others use them for the credit card perks.

While you may not think it, you can get some real benefits from credit card rewards programs if you shop around before selecting the one that’s right for you. But before you jump in and start taking advantage of the range of credit card perks that are available, it pays to follow the three simple steps indicated below. If you do this, you can guarantee you’ll get the best credit cards with the best credit card incentives on the market.

  • Compare all the best credit cards before applying.

It’s tempting to jump at the first deal you see, but there are a lot of providers that offer credit card rewards, and you may miss out on the best deal if you don’t do your homework first.

Make a list of each card, what the interest rate is in case you do miss out on paying off the card in full each month, and what it offers in terms of credit card perks. Keep this in mind before you make your final decision.

  • Remember that the card with the best value deal isn’t necessarily the right card for you.

Not everyone thinks about this, but it is an important point to bear in mind. Let’s say the two best credit card perks on the market at the moment offer Air Miles and money off your shopping at your local supermarket respectively.

Now the Air Miles actually represent a much better deal than the money off option, but the snag is that you rarely fly and there is little chance that you would use them. In this situation, it’s clear that while the best credit cards deal is the Air Miles, the best deal for you would actually be getting money off your shopping. Credit card rewards and credit card incentives are designed to appeal to different people, so make sure you find the one which appeals to you.

  • Can you pay your card off in full every single month?

The best credit card rewards programs aren’t necessarily going to be the ones with the lowest interest rates. In fact, the opposite can often apply.

That’s why you need to make sure you aren’t tempted by credit card rewards if you have a large balance that you are looking to transfer. In this case, your priorities are clearly different and you should postpone getting a card with credit card incentives until you are back in the black again.

In short, the best credit cards are the ones which fit your own personal situation. If you don’t owe any money on your credit cards and you are disciplined about what you spend, then credit card rewards, credit card perks, and credit card incentives will certainly be very rewarding for you.
